Sonya Ruffin
President

currently serves as Chapter President. In her previous roles, she served as the Vice President of Administration and Committee Chairperson for the Event Planning and Fundraising Committee(s). Her professional experience includes a longstanding tenure as a Human Resources professional in the retail sales market. Sonya received her MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management and her BA Business Management from North Carolina State University. As a transplant from North Carolina over 15 years ago, Sonya has networked her way into many organizations within the New Jersey area. Sonya has participated on social committees for both IBM and Microsoft’s Employee Resource Groups. Sonya has also served as a board member for the Eastern Region National Brotherhood of Skiers (serving chapters from Maine to Florida) and the local ski chapter – Thrillseekers, Inc of New York City. As a board member for both the Eastern Region and local ski club, Sonya has coordinated events throughout the U.S. and internationally for thousands of attendees. Events have included regional conferences, excursions, fundraising activities, and local social gatherings. Sonya enjoys utilizing her creativity and event planning experience in order to increase funding for chapter initiatives, to increase membership; as well as membership participation for the NBMBAA-NJ Chapter.

John Montgomery II
Vice President of Administration

is a Strategic and analytical professional with 10 years experience in Sales & Marketing, Finance, Web Development, and Customer Relationship Management with a proven track record of successfully growing various markets. He is the Head of Marketing Excellence, Nutrition & Health at BASF where he leads of the global Marketing Excellence community for the Nutrition and Health division. The Marketing Excellence team is responsible for the implementation of future service offerings, improving our product launches and 3rd party collaboration capabilities, implementation of the sales excellence initiative in North America, and other strategic marketing initiatives. John is a member of the National Black MBA Association, New Jersey Chapter where he currently serves as Vice President of Administration.

Lynch Hunt
Vice President of Operations

is an Assistant Vice President and Product Manager at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Pennington, NJ, responsible for managing investment products and strategy. Lynch has over 20 years’ experience helping clients save and accumulate wealth for retirement as a Financial Advisor, a Private Client Group Relationship Manager, and a Software Developer. Lynch is passionate about leadership, advocacy, and professional development, recently winning a Bank of America Global Diversity and Inclusion award for managing, running, and significantly growing to 70 people for a companywide mentoring program for the employee network, the Black Professional Group.

Lynch recently graduated from Rider University, in Lawrenceville, NJ, earning an MBA degree in May 2019. The MBA program specialized in Leadership and Management. Lynch holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Computer Science and Engineering. Lynch also holds securities brokerage licenses (Series 7 and 66) and an insurance license. Lynch joined NBMBAA prior to his graduation because he was passionate about networking and serving with like-minded professionals. The 2019 NBMBAA conference in Houston was a signature event that stirred Lynch to consider NBMBAANJ leadership due to the dynamic environment and important initiatives of the organization. Lynch currently serves as the newly elected Vice President of Operations where he plans to carry out the organizations’ mandates and work alongside other talented professionals to reach out and share the blessings and gifts given.

Adrienne D. Combs
Vice President of Finance

is a Business Intelligence Analyst at Macmillan Publishers. She has over 20 years of experience in Information Technology working in the Insurance, Financial Services and Healthcare Industries. Adrienne received a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Analysis and Development from Drexel University. She holds a Master of Public Administration from Rutgers University – Newark and a Masters Certificate in Management of Technology from New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). Adrienne is an active member in her church serving as Trustee, Vice President of the Scholarship and Education Ministry and Treasurer of the choir. She is also a member of an investment club in which she serves as Treasurer. Adrienne is a member of the National Black MBA Association, New Jersey Chapter where she has served as Economic Development Chair, mentor of the award-winning Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) youth mentorship program, and 2 terms as Vice President of Operations. Adrienne is currently serving as the Vice President of Finance.

Michael D. Fleming,
Immediate Past President

has over twenty years of progressive experience in the biomedicines, pharmaceutical and consumer products industry. He has performed various roles in the area of sales and marketing, team leadership, training and development, project management and compliance with leading global companies.

He holds a master’s degree in Administrative Management from Bowie State University and holds a bachelor’s degree in Management Science & Economics from Kean University.

His early career experiences were in the area of education administration that included contributions toward the development of the University of the District of Columbia Aftercare Program, a nationally-recognized model program in conjunction with the Government of the District of Columbia. His work in the area of institutional accreditation for the U.S. Department of Education involved oversight of nationwide vocational career schools.

He is a Lifetime Member of the National Black MBA Association, Inc. having served on its New Jersey Chapter executive board in various capacities, in addition to 3 consecutive terms as Chapter President. Under his leadership, the chapter has garnered national recognition including its work in support of Entrepreneurship and its multiple, award-winning youth mentoring initiative, the Leaders of Tomorrow ® (LOT) Program.  He is a proud, Lifetime Member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and has served on the other local non-profit, community organization boards.
